Update time from Beanie Cellars...
Hopefully you're getting the hang of how we work... but just in case, here's a refresher!
At @beanies_masato on Twitter, as well as giving news and Tweets from the Street we sell stuff to help fund homeless outreach through our Partner organisations.
In September, for every Tee shirt, beanie, book, scarf or calendar we sell, between 15-20% goes to our September 'star' - @onebigfamilyHTH. Day 12 today, and by your buying goodies, we have £72 in their kitty already!
Alongside this we are also selling Duffle bags as a precursor of our Winter Campaign. With these its a 'Buy one Give one' scheme. You buy a duffle in your colour choice, and a Blue one is donated to the homeless. You chose at checkout which of our Partners you would like it to go through. If you don't chose anyone we assign for you. So its easy!
Why duffle bags?
On the street, all your belongings are vulnerable - and often a carrier bag is all you possess. On a good week someone may have handed on their "bag for life". This almost compounds the feeling of worthlessness that is one of the symptoms of living rough. Our friends on the street told us that a proper bag, one that looked smart, and was easy to keep by you, was something to be prized. So Masato decided that a smart duffle bag fitted the bill.
Again, here we are on day 12, with 31 duffle bags ordered. That's 31 going to the homeless.
