York Road Project
One of our Partners for the winter "BUY 1 GIVE 1" campaign, known amongst our volunteers as the B1G1, is Woking based York Road Project.
We asked them to tell you what they do...
Their Fay Kearley fills in the blanks!
York Road Project
provides emergency and longer term accommodation for those experiencing
homelessness in Woking, Surrey.
We have one main emergency accommodation
property and four 'move on' properties, in total comprising of 29 beds.
We also offer a day service called “The Prop”,
which supports rough sleepers, people in supported accommodation and those at
risk of becoming homeless through an interactive program of workshops and
courses, designed to help reduce social isolation and enable them to stabilize
and reintegrate within the community. Our sessions have an open door policy so
everyone is welcome, irrelevant of their issues or capabilities, full social
inclusion is the benchmark we set.
We provide the means to feed, clothe and care
for the physical needs of our rough sleepers, who otherwise would go without.
Our Outreach team known as SHAWS work tirelessly to go into the community to
find and work with some of the most entrenched and chaotic clients and aim to
bridge the gap between services to insure no one “slips through the net”
We believe that everyone has a right to a home, regardless
of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We also
believe in showing those who need support that the wider community is there to
help and to offer hope for a better future
York Road Project were one of our Partners for the 2015-2016 winter campaign, and our Partner of the Month for JULY this year.
